Annie Johnson recognized that low-income families were in need of childcare services in the Greater Frenchtown Community.
To sustain the rich history of the Greater Frenchtown Community, Project Annie will play an important role in supporting the younger families in the community to maintain a vibrant neighborhood. Not only is Frenchtown rich in history, but it is also rich in culture, energy and resilience. There has been cumulative harm of racist public policies and private actions that have trapped generations of people of color in segregated neighborhoods of concentrated poverty.
Donations and Contributions are welcome to offer the best education and family services for infants, children and low-income families. A sustainable community childcare system will support a vibrant Frenchtown Community.
Annie's Nursery School accepts donations and contributions such as: blankets, sheets, diapers, changing table, baby bottles, wipes, walkers, swings, beds and highchairs, child chairs, and mats. Educational tools are needed such as: art supplies, paper, pencils, crayons, erasers, color books, desk, etc.
Funding and Support Opportunities: St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Faith Presbyterian Church, Grace Mission, Frenchtown Neighborhood First Plan, Community Human Service Partnership (CHSP), Early Learning Coalition, Children's Services Council of Leon County, Whole Child Leon, Tallahassee Community College, and many other groups and individuals.
Project Annie is continuing to have volunteer opportunities for community members and students to assist with administrative tasks, record keeping, facility maintenance, adult tutoring and special projects. Students from Florida A &M University (FAMU), Florida State University (FSU) and Tallahassee Community College (TCC) are part of our volunteer program.
